Innovation Center South

On June 15, 2015, the county officially broke ground for Innovation Center South, a new 1.6-million-square-foot, mixed-use development in Herndon, adjacent to the coming Innovation Center Metro Station.

Real estate developer Ralph Rocks took a small helicopter from the Watergate 60 years ago and landed on a runway that would eventually be Dulles Airport. On a hunch, he scooped up farmland around the future airport and it’s where his family, decades later, broke ground yesterday on an ambitious new project.

On Monday, June 15, 2015 at 2 p.m., members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will join representatives from Nugget Joint Venture, LC (Rocks Engineering) and invited guests at a ceremony to officially break ground for Innovation Center South.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a contract that lets building get underway on the Silver Line’s next parking structure.

The $57 million garage at the Innovation Center Metro Station will have space for approximately 2,100 cars. Innovation Center, to be built as part of Phase II of the Silver Line, will be located near the intersection of the Dulles Toll Road and Route 28.
